#hanoi1001/ Green Mango 3rd Birthday: TONIGHT!

Tonight is going to be a very special and the bill keeps getting longer.

Hanoi’s drumming circle at 7.30pm. Old favourite Josh Lee is added to the bill at eight.  Then it’s Rockeoke right the way till 10.30pm when the Hanoi Brass Monkies take over.

All ticket receipts will go to victims of flooding in Central Vietnam.  Your 100,000VND ticket will also include a free Green Mango Daiquiri.

For the Rockeoke – choose a track from the representatives that will be amongst the crowd and get ready to belt out your rock song.  If you’re a hit there’ll be prizes ranging from hotel stays to free drinks.

Then later, Hanoi’s hardest working band the Brass Monkies will be topping the bill and getting everyone up dancing. They’ve also added a range of special guests to the line up including Sonny (King of Vietnamese free jazz) and Hung MX (just back from the US) on keys.

Also there’ll be a “soul diva superstar from Cebu” on vocals.

It’s a party with a very special cause and a chance for us all to put the spotlight back on what is happening in Central Vietnam.

We’ll see you there. Please, bring all your friends.

The place where I’m staying is ace – it’s a tiny guesthouse of a half a dozen rooms crammed on top of this amazing bar/restaurant. The decor is very luxurious and Parisian, it reminds me of Lounge 10, one of my favourite Manchester restaurants. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and it’s really surreal sitting each morning in this miniature Moulin Rouge eating a tomato and onion omelette.
